Information
Edward Giblett was born in 1979 in Pasadena, California. His artistic journey began as a child reading newspaper comics. The art of Calvin and Hobbs, Garfield, and The Far Side motivated him to pick up a pencil and start drawing. He also collected comic books, not for the stories but for the beautiful cover illustrations.
Eventually, the art of John Singer Sargent, William Bouguereau, and Richard Schmid would inspire him to learn the painting techniques of the old masters. He attended California State University Channel Islands before moving to Oahu, Hawai'i where he lived for 13 years. He then returned to Southern California where he continues to make and exhibit art.
Edward's work draws from romantic gothic fashion, film and literature, and explores the past, present, and future of a mysterious dreamy netherworld with Victorian-inspired figures and living spaces. Sunlight manifests natural motifs, while in the shadows -- electric light reveals eerie supernatural subjects.
